Haribo was founded in Germany on December 13, 1920. That is why it is now a whopping 102 years old. And during all this time it has fooled us with the flavor of the green-flavored gummy bear.
And while most consumers would associate the green bear with a green apple, lime or even watermelon flavor, the reality is that this bear tastes like… strawberry.
And if that wasn’t enough, they also learned that Hans Riegel, who founded the company in 1920, named Haribo after the first two letters of his first name, his last name and the city where he was born, namely Bonn, Germany.
