We still mourn the death of Akira Toriyama. Last March, the creator of Dragon Ball, Dr. Slump, Sanland, and much more, left us forever, but his legacy will be eternal. In fact, despite having passed to the next life, we’re still amazed by new discoveries that Toriyama left behind, and now a new one has just arrived that has left us astonished.
This new discovery is about a fourth transformation of one of Son Goku and company’s most feared enemies: Cell. In the android saga, the darkest in the manga and undoubtedly one of the best, Toriyama delighted us with an incredible villain who increases in power as he absorbs his enemies. This undoubtedly gave us much more than his three classic transformations, and it’s something that Toriyama was very clear about.

A Cell transformation we never saw in the manga, fault of Akira Toriyama’s editor
Now, sketches have just been revealed about a fourth transformation of Cell that Toriyama tried to integrate into the manga, but which his editor advised him to remove. This transformation resembles that of Perfect Cell, with a much more human face. However, it’s skinnier and has a more monstrous expression.

We don’t know what power scale this fourth transformation would have had, but it certainly seems to be between the first and second, or the second and third. Either way, it’s something that, at long last, we didn’t see in the manga, so we had to settle for their classic transformations. However, we’ve seen some incredible designs that are on par with the best villains in the history of manga and anime. If there’s one thing Toriyama never failed at, it’s his designs.
