The German IT company Kiebel has inadvertently revealed specifications for the upcoming GeForce RTX 5050, a significant entry-level GPU expected to launch soon, aimed explicitly at budget-conscious gaming laptops.
This new graphics card is part of Kiebel’s Helix 13 laptops, although it’s crucial to note that these specifications pertain to the mobile variant, which may share some architectural features with a potential desktop counterpart.
According to Kiebel, the GeForce RTX 5050 is based on Nvidia’s GB207 silicon, anticipated to be the smallest in the Blackwell series.
Nvidia’s RTX 5050 graphics card to launch with GDDR6 memory, not GDDR7
Produced using TSMC’s 4N FinFET process, the GPU reportedly includes 20 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs) and 2,560 CUDA cores, along with 80 5th-generation Tensor cores and 20 4th-generation Ray Tracing cores.
This configuration exhibits an upgrade over the RTX 4050, with the RTX 5050 boasting a base clock speed of 2,235 MHz and a boost clock speed of 2,520 MHz—improvements of 54% and 44%, respectively.
Despite early speculation about the use of GDDR7 memory, Kiebel has confirmed that the GeForce RTX 5050 will utilize GDDR6, retaining an 8GB capacity and a 128-bit memory bus.
These choices were reportedly made for cost and availability reasons, indicating that Nvidia’s partners are securing GDDR6 supplies from major manufacturers Samsung and SK hynix.
As for availability, Kiebel is offering delivery times ranging from three to seven days for its Helix 13 laptops equipped with the RTX 5050, and other models featuring the new GPU are already appearing on shelves.
Notably, Asus Vietnam has listed its ROG Strix G16, while Lenovo’s Legion 5i is available at Newegg, priced at $2,233. Official confirmation from Nvidia is anticipated soon, paving the way for a broader reveal of the RTX 5050.
