But why is Civil War worth watching? Here are some of its details.
A Not-So-Distant Dystopia
Produced by none other than A24, the company behind hits like Everything Everywhere All at Once, Maxxxine, or Midsommar, Civil War is a movie in which we travel to a near-future United States where political tensions have grown so large that the country is on the brink of a massive civil war. Basically, Garland presents a scenario where everything we’ve seen in recent years erupts in an unprecedented way.

We see all this through the eyes of veteran war photographer Lee Smith (Kirsten Dunst) and her journalist partner Joel (Wagner Moura), who get caught in a suicide bombing while trying to cover the growing civil unrest in New York City, along with young aspiring photographer Jessie Cullen (Cailee Spaeny), who idolizes Lee’s work.
Soon, an odyssey begins in which they will have to keep working while being immersed in a chaotic United States where nothing is as it seems. Without a doubt, it is a film of enviable quality that may also have a second life on Max.
