Designed for the less fortunate<\/b><\/h3>\n

Not everybody is lucky enough to have the latest cell phone. Some of us have a dinosaur that’s old or slow or cheap. That\u2019s where Facebook Lite comes into play. <\/span>The app is specially designed for<\/span> devices that are outdated <\/b>or don\u2019t have sufficient technology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Size and battery<\/b><\/h3>\n

The first big difference has to do with the size of the app. While Facebook takes up about <\/span>60 MB<\/b>, the Lite version only is <\/span>2 MB<\/b>. That’s a significant difference in space if you don\u2019t have much storage capacity. Incredible, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

Something similar happens with the battery, though on a smaller scale: while the normal Facebook app can be a battery hog, the lite version\u00a0requires two-thirds less power<\/strong><\/span>.<\/strong> It\u2019s a small difference, but can be significant in the long run.<\/span><\/p>\n

Simplified design<\/b><\/h3>\n

Another big difference between Facebook and Facebook Lite has to do with the design. It\u2019s almost identical to the normal app. Almost<\/em>. A closer look reveals small differences: the text and icons are smaller, the animations are less smooth, the graphics are simpler and the general presentation is less impressive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lite removes all the app\u2019s excess details. It\u2019s like a video game that goes from high resolution to low resolution.<\/span><\/p>\n

Less data consumption <\/b><\/h3>\n

Facebook Lite was created to help parts of the world with less advanced technology. Basically, this has to do with internet connection. Data is barely consumed with Facebook Lite, since programmers had to consider that this app would be used in areas with <\/span>2G connections<\/b>. That\u2019s nothing. <\/span><\/p>\n

Facebook Messenger included<\/b><\/h3>\n

Facebook pulled out all the stops to get people to download Messenger.\u00a0<\/span>Despite this massive effort, <\/span>Facebook Lite doesn\u2019t require Messenger to be installed separately<\/b>. That means you can use it from the Lite app. Also, you can\u2019t use current emojis, but you can always create the retro version with punctuation marks and letters.<\/span><\/p>\n
