Back in January, WhatsApp for iOS got an update that dealt with a frustrating problem faced by anyone sending voice notes. It was impossible to listen to voice notes before sending them, and if you were interrupted while recording a voice note (like by an incoming call), you\u2019d lose your recording. The January iOS update addressed these problems but there was nothing for Android WhatsApp users. This has now changed.<\/p>\n

The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android adds the saved voice note feature<\/strong> that iOS users got in January. The feature automatically saves voice notes so that if you\u2019re interrupted, the recording won\u2019t be lost. Once you\u2019ve dealt with the interruption, you can listen to it and then if you\u2019re happy,\u00a0send it away.<\/p>\n

The guys over at WABetaInfo<\/a> have pointed out a handy trick for using this new feature to listen to all voice notes before you send them. All you have to do is press the home screen button once you\u2019ve completed your recording.<\/strong> This manual interruption will take you away from WhatsApp so that when you return, you\u2019ll be presented with a playable version of your voice note to check before sending.<\/p>\n

This WhatsApp update is similar but different to the recent \u2018locked record\u2019 update<\/a> we told you about recently. That update added the ability to release your finger from the mic button when you were recording your voice notes. Both updates show that slowly but surely WhatsApp is sorting out its voice note feature on Android. Would you like to see any other voice note improvements on WhatsApp?<\/p>\n
