YouTube is once again trying to take on the music streaming giants like Spotify and Apple Music. YouTube Music and YouTube Premium, two long-rumored services, have been officially announced by the internet video giant. Let\u2019s have a look at both of these new services in a bit more detail.<\/p>\n

What is YouTube Music?<\/h2>\n

YouTube Music will be an updated version of YouTube\u2019s previous paid for music streaming service, YouTube Remix. It\u2019ll be much like the music streaming services we\u2019ve become used to since Spotify first burst onto the scene.<\/p>\n

YouTube Music will be completely independent of normal YouTube and will even get its own app for PCs and smartphones. On top of the usual hits, YouTube claims that YouTube music will be where you\u2019ll be able to find all sorts of mixes, covers, live versions, and cuts that you won\u2019t be able to find anywhere else.<\/p>\n

There will be a free version of YouTube Music, complete with ads, but the limitless and ad-free version of the app will set you back $9.99 a month.<\/p>\n

What is YouTube Premium?<\/h2>\n

YouTube Premium is a new version of YouTube Red. It includes video content that only paying customers can access. It also allows users to download videos.<\/p>\n

YouTube Premium will cost $11.99 a month but, tantalizingly, Premium subscribers will also have access to YouTube Music. For just $2 extra a month, YouTube Music subscribers will also be able to access all that YouTube Premium has to offer. Anybody who already has a YouTube premium subscription will be able to access to YouTube Premium for only $9.99 a month.<\/p>\n

YouTube Premium and Music will reach the countries where Red is already available (currently USA, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea) on May 22. Other countries will have to wait, but YouTube has confirmed that both services will soon be available in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, Ireland, Russia, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland.<\/p>\n
