At the end of last year, Google pledged that we would see a lot of new features for <\/span>Gmail <\/b>in 2018. <\/b>This email service is the most popular in the world, so the Mountain View team has been working to offer new features. And now we\u2019ve received the first of them. Here are <\/span>Gmail\u2019s best new features. <\/b><\/p>\n

New design<\/b><\/h2>\n

Gmail has always been known for having a clumsy interface, typical of the last decade. However, we should clarify that it\u2019s <\/span>quick, easy and functional<\/b>, so it\u2019s understandable that Google doesn\u2019t want to touch anything that works well\u2026 they just want to improve it. <\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, the search company has added a <\/span>new Gmail design<\/b>. To enable it, just go to the gears icon at the top and click <\/span>\u201cTry the new Gmail.\u201d <\/b>The platform will reload after a few seconds and a short tutorial will appear explaining the new features.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Gmail now has a cleaner and more readable design<\/b>, with rounded and not-so-rectangular shapes. It also added new features at the user experience level. For example, attached files in emails can be downloaded without having to open the email at hand (this is a big hit).<\/p>\n

Offline mode<\/b><\/h2>\n

This is one of the greatest new features of this latest update, which the community has been requesting for some years now: <\/span>offline mode. <\/b>To get it, you must have the new Gmail design, so follow the steps in the previous point. <\/span><\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve done that, enabling offline mode is very simple. Click on the settings icon and then the <\/span>\u201cSettings\u201d<\/b> option – redundant, we know. If you take a quick look, you\u2019ll see a field that wasn\u2019t there before, a box called <\/span>\u201cOffline.\u201d<\/b> Click there and enable the box <\/span>\u201cEnable offline email.\u201d <\/b>It will ask you how many days of messages you want to synchronize, so choose what\u2019s best for you. Now you\u2019re good to go.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reminders<\/b><\/h2>\n

Maybe you haven\u2019t responded to your email for a few days and have to do it. Now Google will remind you with a little<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>yellow message.<\/b> This feature even appears in emails that have already been read. The idea is that no message goes overlooked.<\/span><\/p>\n

Auto-response<\/b><\/h2>\n

This was already introduced in past trial phase versions, but now, at last, it\u2019s here: <\/span>the auto-response.<\/b> This feature involves Google\u2019s AI suggesting what could be your short response to a message you\u2019ve received. For this, the system displays some answers on the screen: <\/span>you can then choose one and click send.<\/b> Quick and easy.<\/p>\n

Self-destructing emails<\/b><\/h2>\n

We\u2019ll wrap up this list of new features with the best one for spies:\u00a0<\/span>self-destructing emails. <\/b>Known under the name <\/span>\u201cConfidential mode,<\/b>\u201d this feature is activated once an email is sent and prevents that person from copying, pasting, resending or printing the text. Also, you can add a reading time limit. After this time, the email will no longer be available.<\/span><\/p>\n
