The Sims<\/b> is one of the most fascinating video games out there. It\u2019s almost two decades old and with each new release, it takes another step up. However, despite these updates, the big changes almost always come from user community, which creates excellent mods to get more out of the game. Today, we\u2019re putting on our work boots and teaching you how to download and play <\/span>Sims 4 <\/b>multiplayer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step by step<\/b><\/h2>\n

The first step is simple: <\/span>download the mod.<\/b> Do it here<\/span><\/a>, unzip it and drag the folder <\/span>ts4multiplayer-alpha1 <\/b>to the location where the mods are. <\/span><\/p>\n

Once the previous step is done, <\/span>download<\/b> <\/a>Hamachi<\/a>, <\/b>the program necessary for creating the virtual network that we\u2019re going to use to play. Open the software and click on \u201c<\/span>Create a new network<\/b>.\u201d Add a <\/span>name and password<\/b> and write it all down, since you\u2019ll have to send the details to your friend (and they’ll need to follow all the same processes you did).<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s go to the server now. Type in the following path: <\/span>Documents\\Electronic Arts\\The Sims 4\\Mods\\ts4multiplayer-alpha1\\Scripts\\ts4mp\\core<\/b>. If you\u2019re going to make the server, create a .txt file called \u201c<\/span>server.txt<\/b>\u201d (without quotation marks). Or, if you\u2019re going to connect to your friend\u2019s account, create a .txt file called \u201c<\/span>client.txt.<\/b>\u201d So far, so good, right? Now things get a little more complicated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Go to <\/span>Documents\\Electronic Arts\\The Sims 4\\Mods\\ts4multiplayer-alpha1\\Scripts\\ts4mp\\configs<\/b> and look for the file \u201c<\/span>server_config.py<\/b>.\u201d You need to open it. Most likely, it won\u2019t let you, so click right and select \u201copen with Notepad.\u201d There, look for two clear sections. The first is called \u201c<\/span>Host,\u201d <\/b>where you have to enter a numeric code that appears next to the Hamachi power button (consisting of four series <\/span>XX.XX.XX.XX<\/b>). The second is called <\/span>\u201cPort\u201d<\/b> and it\u2019s as easy as typing <\/span>\u201c9999.\u201d<\/b> Both you and your friend must follow this process, regardless of whether you\u2019re the client or the server. <\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t quit yet! We\u2019re almost there. If you\u2019re going to act as the server, go to <\/span>Documents\\Electronic Arts\\The Sims 4\\Mods\\ts4multiplayer-alpha1\\Scripts\\ts4mp\\core <\/b>and look for a file called \u201c<\/span>multiplayer_server.py<\/b>.\u201d Open it with Notepad and go to the \u201c<\/span>self.host<\/b>\u201d section. There, type in the Hamachi address from the previous point (with the quotation marks this time) and for the \u201c<\/span>self.port<\/b>\u201d type in \u201c<\/span>9999.<\/b>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ta-da, now you\u2019re good to g!. Now just create a game with two Sims (if you\u2019re going to act as the server) and send the saved file to your friend (the games are saved in the folder \u201c<\/span>Saves<\/b>\u201d within \u201cThe Sims 4\u201d). First, load the file acting as the server and then the client. Now each user will have a Sim within that game. <\/span><\/p>\n

The client may have issues when selecting a character. If this occurs, whoever makes the server just has to enter the following command: <\/span>add_client_sims<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The process may seem a little tedious, but with some patience, you\u2019ll get it working.<\/span><\/p>\n
