Get rid of the \u201clast seen\u201d and blue check<\/b><\/h2>\n

The first trick to be less trackable on WhatsApp is the simplest: <\/span>get rid of the \u201clast seen\u201d timestamp and blue checkmark read receipt. <\/b>To do this, go to WhatsApp and open the Settings section. Of all the boxes available, the only one we want is \u201cAccount,\u201d so go there and then \u201cPrivacy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Once inside, click on the first field: <\/span>\u201cLast seen.\u201d <\/b>Here you can confirm who can see your \u201clast seen\u201d connection time. If you select \u201cNobody\u201d as a default, say goodbye to seeing the “last seen” connection for your own WhatsApp contacts. Likewise, if you scroll down, you\u2019ll see the box <\/span>\u201cRead receipts.\u201d <\/b>By unchecking it, WhatsApp won\u2019t use the famous blue checkmark if that person has read your message. Is that a problem for you? The feature goes both ways: it\u2019s either enabled for both or disabled for both, but nothing in between. <\/span><\/p>\n

Airplane mode<\/b><\/h2>\n

We always say airplane mode for smartphones is extremely underrated. It\u2019s not just for air travel. This feature is useful for our everyday lives. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you enable airplane mode, your<\/span>\u00a0data connection is completely cut off<\/b>. So the person sending you a WhatsApp message will only see one checkmark in their app (the sent receipt). Until you turn off airplane mode, the tool won\u2019t work, so you can read your messages up to that point.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pop-up notifications<\/b><\/h2>\n

The last way to read messages from somebody without going online has to do with <\/span>pop-up notifications.<\/b> This WhatsApp feature was introduced relatively recently, but more and more people are making the most of this gem. To enable them, go to \u201c<\/span>Settings,\u201d <\/b>click on <\/span>\u201cNotifications\u201d <\/b>and enable <\/span>\u201cPop-up notifications.\u201d <\/b>Several options will appear, though what you need to stay offline is <\/span>\u201cAlways show pop-up notifications.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

From now on, all messages you receive on your cell phone will also appear as pop-ups, <\/span>without needing to go to WhatsApp to check them. <\/b>You can read, view or listen to them all \u201cfrom the shadows,\u201d which gives you an extra level of privacy. And of course, secrecy. We won\u2019t deny it. <\/span><\/p>\n
