About a month ago, the Pok\u00e9mon Company excitedly announced their upcoming Nintendo Switch title, Pok\u00e9mon Let\u2019s Go Pikachu & Eevee. Along with this, Pok\u00e9mon announced (and soon after released) its first Nintendo Switch title: Pok\u00e9mon Quest.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Now available on mobile devices<\/a>, Pok\u00e9mon Quest is a free-to-start RPG. The player takes control of cube-shaped versions of the original 151 Pok\u00e9mon on their adventure to explore Tumblecube Island. Here are some tips on starting your journey:<\/span><\/p>\n

Choosing your starter<\/b><\/h3>\n

Every Pok\u00e9mon journey begins with picking your starter Pok\u00e9mon, and this game is no exception. You get to choose between some classics: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Pikachu, and Eevee. The most common suggestion is to go with Charmander. Pok\u00e9mon Quest doesn\u2019t have a typical type chart, instead giving you type bonuses for certain expedition sites. Charmander is usually recommended because fire is nice to have early in the game, and is a rare type compared to water, grass, and normal. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another good option is Bulbasaur. Not only does it have the best defense of the starter Pok\u00e9mon, but it also has the ability to heal itself. Pok\u00e9mon will automatically revive after some time of being knocked out as long as you have at least one Pok\u00e9mon left. Starting with Bulbasaur lets you survive longer, so your other Pok\u00e9mon have more time to revive.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Recruiting Pok\u00e9mon and Battling<\/b><\/h3>\n

In most Pok\u00e9mon games, you typically use Pok\u00e9 Balls to catch your Pok\u00e9mon in. In this game, however, you attract Pok\u00e9mon to your camp by making different recipes. Each recipe attracts different kinds of Pok\u00e9mon. Some attract water types, while others attract red Pok\u00e9mon. Once you\u2019ve created a dish, the recipe will be saved in your cookbook, and you\u2019ll be able to recreate it. So it\u2019s best to mix and match for a bit until you\u2019ve found some good recipes. It\u2019s up to you to decide what kind of Pok\u00e9mon you want to catch. <\/span><\/p>\n

Just like the catching system, the battling in this game is unlike any other Pok\u00e9mon game to date. Essentially, you send off three Pok\u00e9mon into a dungeon, and have little control over them once they are in. You have the choice to set the Pok\u00e9mon onto \u201cauto\u201d or not, but either way, they will control their own movements. If you take \u201cauto\u201d off, however, you are able to control their attacks and make them scatter if they are taking a lot of damage. You should focus on equipping your Pok\u00e9mon and training them up before taking on difficult areas, since you won\u2019t have much control once they are in.<\/span><\/p>\n
