This is opposed to the Delta Update system, which cumulatively builds patches on top of one another. Every time something changes everything needs to be downloaded and updated again. The result is that updates get larger and larger as the months go by.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_104313\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-104313\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-104313 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/delta-updates-express-updates.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"559\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/delta-updates-express-updates.png 750w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/delta-updates-express-updates-300x224.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-104313\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Microsoft is killing Delta Updates in February<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We can see an example of this after <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/how-to-free-up-40gb-on-windows-10-after-the-latest-update\/\">the recent update we got in April 2018. <\/a>Various patches were coming in at around 100 \u2013 200 MB, but after a while, they ended up at approximately 1.2 GB. With the new Express system, these small patches will only ever be the sum of their individual parts, rather than including&nbsp;all the parts that came before them. We can still expect to get two of them a year.
