WhatsApp adds encrypted group video and voice calls for up to 4 people<\/h2>\n

Since 2016, WhatsApp has had video calling. Until now, those calls were limited to only two people, but yesterday, WhatsApp began rolling out encrypted video calls for up to four people. The Facebook-owned messaging service announced in a blog post that the new group video call feature will soon be available on both Android and iOS versions of the app.<\/p>\n

Four is not exactly a huge number for group calls. If you look at Facebook Messenger\u2019s video call option, you can have up to 50 participants and even Snapchat can host up to 16 people in a video call at the same time. The kicker for WhatsApp is that the video calls are protected by end-to-end encryption<\/strong>, just like chats.<\/p>\n

Once you receive the new group video call update to your version of the app, it will be really simple to start a group call. All you will have to do is click on the new add participant<\/strong> option when you\u2019re video chatting. You\u2019ll find it in the top right-hand corner of the screen.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re want to make encrypted video calls with up to three of your friends and family you can now do so on WhatsApp. The new group call feature also applies to voice calls, meaning you can have group voice calls with up to three of your friends at the same time, too.<\/p>\n
