Virtual reality is taking the gaming world by storm. VR headsets are more affordable than ever, allowing gamers to literally step inside their favorite gaming worlds. Games are being built exclusively for VR, but many existing games and franchises are introducing VR modes as well, from Skyrim to Grand Theft Auto. Here are five games that we think would make for awesome VR experiences.<\/p>\n

Ubisoft’s new open-world racing game is a nonstop thrill ride. Players can get behind the wheel of tricked-out sports cars, racing boats, motorcycles, and even airplanes. The best part? You can switch seamlessly between vehicles on the fly, allowing you to transition instantly from skimming the waves to soaring through the skies. Now, imagine experiencing that transition in VR. Players could live out their most extreme racing fantasies and get behind the\u00a0wheel of a Lamborghini without having to shell out millions of dollars. What could be better than that?<\/p>\n

4. Shadow of the Colossus<\/h3>\n

One of the defining moments in Shadow of the Colossus is the first time you lay eyes on one of the games titular enemies. You see the towering Colossus, taller than some mountains, majestically striding through the distance, and think, “How the heck am I supposed to kill that thing?” Even imagining that sense of power and scale being translated to VR is goosebump-inducing. Picture yourself strapping on that VR headset, then craning your head back to look up at the Colossus looming over you… right as it lifts its massive stone club to crush you like an ant. Taking down a Colossus with a controller in hand is satisfying, but doing it yourself in VR is a feat worthy of a true warrior.<\/p>\n

3. Dishonored 2<\/h3>\n

Okay, face it: every gamer has wanted to be an elite assassin at some point or another. In Dishonored, there’s a twist: you’re an elite assassin with supernatural powers. Players have a huge selection of abilities at their fingertips, from teleportation to invisibility to stopping time itself. Players could find out for themselves if they have the skill necessary to don Corvo’s trademark mask. You can feel the tension for yourself as you sneak through a room of enemy guards, slipping past undetected, before taking down your target from above. The possibilities for VR are endless.<\/p>\n

2. Life is Strange<\/h3>\n

One of the aspects that made Life is Strange so successful was the way it blended rich environments and a totally fleshed out world with a tense mystery story. In VR, players could piece together the mystery themselves: searching the incredibly detailed environments for clues, talking to characters, and rewinding time at a\u00a0whim. Though not first-person, the game seems almost tailor-made for the inclusion of a VR mode. Life is Strange 2 is due for a fall release; perhaps we might see VR support included in the new title?<\/p>\n

The Resident Evil franchise already has a proven track record when it comes to VR. Resident Evil 7, the first first-person entry in the series, released with a Playstation VR mode that received almost universal praise.\u00a0 Survival horror and VR go together like peanut butter and jelly. Players want to experience the scares and the tension for themselves. Resident Evil 2 took E3 by surprise, and promises a totally revamped return to Raccoon City. RE7 has already proven that the Resident Evil series can pull off an incredible VR experience. Though it seems Capcom is leaving out a VR mode in favor or the series standard third-person camera, we’re crossing our fingers that Resident Evil 2 will let us relive that classic game in the world of virtual reality.<\/p>\n

Whether it be racing through city streets, rewinding time, or killing zombies, VR lets us experience it all from the comforts of our living rooms. We can’t wait to see where VR takes us next.<\/p>\n
