As it’s Monday morning I thought I’d kick off with a very simple trick that will solve a very common and annoying problem – auto-updates in Firefox. New versions of the browser seem to be coming thick and fast of late and personally I’m fed up with having to wait for Firefox to install the new version – without my permission – before I can get on the web. Thankfully, you can put a stop to it by doing the following:<\/p>\n

  1. Go to Tools<\/strong> in the Firefox menu bar and click Options <\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Click on the Advanced<\/strong> button and select the Update<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n
  3. In the Automatically check for updates to <\/strong>section, uncheck the Firefox<\/strong> box (and the add-ons<\/strong> and search engines<\/strong> if you don’t want these)<\/li>\n
  4. Another, safer, option is to select the Ask me what I want to do radio button in the When updates to Firefox are found section. Hey presto, no more annoying auto-updating!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
