With an official announcement<\/a>, Fortnite is promoting an unprecedented new “Support-a-Creator” event. So, what exactly is this event? Epic Games is acknowledging the huge creator community that has sprung up around Fortnite, from YouTubers to Twitch streamers and beyond. When supporters spend V-Bucks in the in-game store between October 8 and December 31, that translates to real-world cash for those creators.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fortnite announces “Support-a-Creator” Event<\/h2>\n

Fortnite players choose a creator they wish to support from an official list available on the announcement page linked above. It’s a massive list currently sitting at 1,300-plus names, and will be updated every 24 hours Monday through Friday. Players will be able to select the creator they choose in-game using a new menu that will appear in the Item Shop.<\/p>\n

After choosing the creator you wish to support, simply spend V-Bucks in the in-game store and a portion of what you spend will be sent to that creator.<\/strong> Epic states that the amount received by creators scales, based on how many players are supporting them. Currently, 10,000 V-Bucks spent in the game store translates to $5 for creators. Players can change the creator they support at any time. That said, supporting a given creator will last 14 days. After that point, the game will prompt you to choose a new one… or, you can simply reselect the same creator you’ve already chosen if you have a favorite.<\/p>\n

Creators must:<\/p>\n
