That means you probably also didn&#8217;t miss that name drop at the end of the newest season of &#8220;Daredevil.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qcoH5Nq-5qE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>** SPOILERS BELOW **<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Benjamin Poindexter is introduced in the third season of Daredevil as one of the top henchmen for <a href=\"http:\/\/marvel.wikia.com\/wiki\/Wilson_Fisk_(Earth-616)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kingpin<\/a>. The former FBI agent has a wary, alert demeanor, lethal dexterity that surpasses even Daredevil&#8217;s own at long range, and a stewing hatred for our hero, the devil of Hell&#8217;s Kitchen.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EIu5vxIFpvE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If it isn&#8217;t clear enough, we&#8217;re talking about <a href=\"http:\/\/marvel.wikia.com\/wiki\/Bullseye_(Lester)_(Earth-616)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bullseye<\/a>. But he&#8217;s not an X-Man and therefore isn&#8217;t the tie-in we&#8217;re talking about.<strong> But here&#8217;s why he&#8217;s important:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-112365 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/BenjaminPoindexter.jpg\" alt=\"Benjamin Poindexter ca. Daredevil Season 3\" width=\"970\" height=\"582\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/BenjaminPoindexter.jpg 970w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/BenjaminPoindexter-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/BenjaminPoindexter-768x461.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 970px) 100vw, 970px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By the end of the season, Poindexter suffers a broken spine and is seen being operated on by two surgeons. In the comics, Bullseye <strong>suffered this injury as well<\/strong>\u00a0and recovered thanks to implants made of &#8230; <strong>adamantium.<\/strong> Frustratingly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is <strong>still not allowed to reference<\/strong> the fictional alloy made famous by <a href=\"http:\/\/marvel.wikia.com\/wiki\/James_Howlett_(Earth-616)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wolverine<\/a>, so instead drew upon another mythical Marvel metal &#8220;cognium steel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-112369 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/daredevil-season-3-dr-oyama-bullseye-experperiments-cogmium-ending-explained.jpg\" alt=\"Pay attention to the guy on the right ...\" width=\"1255\" height=\"701\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the surgeons quietly says in an almost throwaway line that you &#8220;can&#8217;t replace pulverized vertebrae, Dr. Oyama.&#8221; For the Marvel nerd, this is when sirens start flashing. In the comics, Kenji Oyama is <a href=\"http:\/\/marvel.wikia.com\/wiki\/Kenji_Oyama_(Earth-616)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lord Dark Wind,<\/a>\u00a0a Japanese crime boss. He&#8217;s the one who<strong> discovered the process to bond adamantium to bone<\/strong> &#8211; the same process famously used on Wolverine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-112373 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/LordDarkWind.jpg\" alt=\"Was Lord Dark Wind the surgeon at the end of Daredevil Season 3?\" width=\"708\" height=\"624\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/LordDarkWind.jpg 708w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/LordDarkWind-300x264.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 708px) 100vw, 708px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cognium steel is not the same thing as adamantium, we know, but <strong>adamantium itself is not a metal<\/strong>. Rather, it&#8217;s an <strong>alloy.<\/strong> It could be that cognium steel is not enough to satisfy Oyama&#8217;s studies, so he goes about using it to create the famous adamantium, which would open a whole can of worms and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/disney-ceo-confirms-the-x-men-will-join-the-mcu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tie-ins with the X-Men universe galore.<\/a> The acquisition of Disney with 21st Century Fox is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/disney-fox-merger-combined-box-office-strategy-begins-1153553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">set to occur<\/a> on January 1, 2019, which means we could be seeing the fruits of this reference well before the next season of &#8220;Daredevil.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/W4fbOBCdyoQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As for whether we can expect to see Lord Dark Wind in the future, that&#8217;s not out of the picture either: Considering the influence of The Yakuza, The Hand and Lord Nobu in earlier &#8220;Daredevil&#8221; seasons, &#8220;Iron Fist,&#8221; and &#8220;Defenders,&#8221; we wouldn&#8217;t be surprised to see this manipulator of Japanese politics try and squeeze in the power vacuum left after Fisk&#8217;s return to prison at the end of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Oyama is also the father of Yuriko Oyama, the infamous <a href=\"http:\/\/marvel.wikia.com\/wiki\/Yuriko_Oyama_(Earth-616)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lady Deathstrike<\/a> &#8211; another huge tie-in to the X-Men universe. With adamantium grafted to her skeleton as well, she commonly served as a counterpoint and foil to Wolverine, believing him to have stolen her father&#8217;s work on adamantium for himself. Oyama views adamantium as a powerful weapon while Wolverine was forcibly put through the Weapon X program and views the whole corporation as a bunch of sadists and butchers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-112377 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/DeathstrikeVWOlverine.jpg\" alt=\"Oyama's daughter is a frequent nemesis for Wolverine\" width=\"620\" height=\"470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/DeathstrikeVWOlverine.jpg 620w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/DeathstrikeVWOlverine-300x227.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Daredevil and Lady Deathstrike <i>did\u00a0<\/i>once team up in the comics to fight Bullseye, so that&#8217;s on the table as well, though admittedly less likely. <em>Do you think Oyama will serve as a pivotal way to introduce a famous element of the X-Men?
