{"id":11515,"date":"2010-05-18T14:16:41","date_gmt":"2010-05-18T13:16:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/spotify-is-now-invite-free\/"},"modified":"2025-07-02T02:13:46","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T09:13:46","slug":"spotify-is-now-invite-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms-articles.softonic.io\/en\/spotify-is-now-invite-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Spotify is now invite free!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2010\/05\/spotify-open2.png\" alt=\"spotify-open2.png\" align=\"left\" \/>Wannabe <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/spotify.en.softonic.com\/\"><strong>Spotify<\/strong><\/a><\/strong> users rejoice &#8211; the company have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spotify.com\/int\/blog\/archives\/2010\/05\/18\/open-and-unlimted\/\">announced<\/a> they&#8217;ve removed the invitation only restriction and now anyone can sign-up for the groundbreaking music application.<\/p>\n<p>The new service is called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spotify.com\/se\/get-spotify\/open\/\"><strong>Spotify Open<\/strong><\/a> but there is a snag though &#8211; new sign-ups for Spotify Open will have their listening time limited to 20 hours per month.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify estimate this works out to around 25 albums or 300 tracks per month. <strong>The changes don&#8217;t affect current users<\/strong> of the free service and new Premium sign-ups still of course have unlimited listening time.<\/p>\n<p>If Spotify Open users want to listen to music after they have reached their 20 hour limit, they have two options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sign-up for <strong>Spotify Premium<\/strong> which allows unlimited listening on both computer and mobile device for \u20ac10 a month<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Sign-up for <strong>Spotify Unlimited<\/strong> which allows unlimited listening on computer only for \u20ac5 a month<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s worth noting that invitations do still work and those who access the service via an invitation from a current user won&#8217;t be subject to a listening time cap every month so there is still an advantage of being invited.<\/p>\n<p>I was <a href=\"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/is-spotify-the-best-free-online-music-app-ever\/\">completely blown away<\/a> when I first tried Spotify early last year and if you haven&#8217;t been able to get an invite yet, you should definitely <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spotify.com\/se\/get-spotify\/open\/\">sign-up for Spotify Open<\/a> today to see what you&#8217;re missing.
