Windows PCs have a PrintScreen<\/em> key that makes it really simple to take screenshots. Mac OS X can take screenshots too, and although it’s not as easy as simply pressing one button, it is<\/em> as easy as pressing three buttons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Take a screenshot of your entire screen<\/h3>\n

To take a screenshot of your entire screen, hold down the\u00a0Command + Shift + 3<\/strong> keys.<\/p>\n

Just like that, the screenshot will be saved to your desktop, labelled with the date and time.<\/p>\n

Take a screenshot of part of you screen<\/h3>\n

With Mac OS X, you also have the option to take a screenshot of only parts of your screen.<\/p>\n

To do so, simply hold down the\u00a0Command + Shift + 4<\/strong> keys. Your cursor will turn into a target that’ll let you select an area of the screen that you want to capture.<\/p>\n

Take a screenshot of a single window<\/h3>\n

You can take it one step further: if you want to take a screenshot of a single window, simply hit Command + Shift + 4 + space bar<\/strong> and hover your mouse over the individual window you want to take a screenshot of. The window will be highlighted in blue<\/strong>. Click to take the screenshot.<\/p>\n

Third-party options<\/h3>\n

If you want to get a bit more advanced, there are programs like Jing<\/a> and ScreenShot Plus<\/a>, a widget for Mac, that offer more advanced features for taking screenshots and editing the images, but for quick and simple screenshots, this is the best method.<\/p>\n
