The only significant drawback with FaceTime for Mac is that it uses <strong>Address Book<\/strong>, your Mac&#8217;s built-in contacts utility. This is OK if you also use Address Book. If, like me, you&#8217;ve studiously ignored it because you <a href=\"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/why-are-you-still-using-that-email-client\/\">only ever use Gmail<\/a>, however, then it&#8217;s time to remedy that state of affairs.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s really very easy to sync your Google Contacts with your Mac.<\/p>\n<p>First, <strong>open Address Book<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2010\/10\/address3.png\" alt=\"address3.png\" height=\"245\" width=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now open <strong>Preferences <\/strong>by hitting (<strong>\u2318 ,<\/strong>)<strong> <\/strong>or selecting <strong>FaceTime <\/strong>and then <strong>Preferences <\/strong>from the menu bar.<\/p>\n<p>Select <strong>Accounts <\/strong>and then check the <strong>Synchronize with Google<\/strong> checkbox.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2010\/10\/address2.png\" alt=\"address2.png\" height=\"399\" width=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A security warning will pop up, advising that you&#8217;re going to allow access to your Google Account. Hit <strong>Accept<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now add your Google Account details, then hit <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The final step is to click the <strong>Sync<\/strong> icon in your Mac&#8217;s menu bar. Select <strong>Sync now<\/strong> and your Address Book should immediately fill with your Google Contacts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2010\/10\/address1.png\" alt=\"address1.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you can easily have FaceTime with any of your Google Contacts who has an iPhone 4, or whose Apple login matches the email address you have for them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apple&#8217;s new FaceTime for Mac beta was one of the more popular announcements from yesterday&#8217;s event.
