If your Smart TV is infected with malware, you are also<a href=\"https:\/\/www.welivesecurity.com\/2014\/06\/09\/major-smart-tv-vulnerability-allow-mass-wireless-attacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> at risk of having your data stolen, and being subjected to bogus ads<\/a>, according to an article from WeLiveSecurity.<\/p>\n<p>To think, all you ever wanted was to watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/title\/80057281\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Stranger Things&#8221;<\/a> in beautiful HD.<\/p>\n<h2>How to scan your TV for viruses<\/h2>\n<p>Recently, Samsung tweeted about the need to scan your TV for viruses every few weeks.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-142967\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2021\/05\/Samsung_Support_xobid9.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The tweet has been recently deleted, but we can tell you how to scan your Samsung TV for viruses:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on your TV<\/li>\n<li>Open your Settings<\/li>\n<li>Go to General, and then to System Manager<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down and choose Smart Security<\/li>\n<li>From Smart Security, click Scan<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You can check out the video below for reference:<\/p>\n<p>Some Smart TVs have different scanning procedures, but <strong>pretty much all of them can be scanned by accessing Security from your Settings.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Wrapping up<\/h2>\n<p>The fact that Samsung tweeted about the need to scan TVs for viruses, and then deleted the tweet after receiving flack is <strong>cause for concern.<\/strong> Whether or not Samsung has detected a vulnerability in their TVs has yet to be discovered, but we&#8217;ll keep our ears open.<\/p>\n<p>Until then, make sure that you are running regular virus scans on your TV.
