The two siblings worked side by side to turn Display into a program with many features that could be used on color monitors. And so <strong>Imagepro<\/strong> was born and later <strong>evolved into<\/strong> <strong>Photoshop<\/strong>, which was only available on computers with Mac OS.<\/p>\n<p>Want to see how the first Photoshop version in history worked? In this first version for Microsoft\u2019s system, a widely known feature made its debut: Filters. With it came the famous predefined filters that could dramatically change the look of photos with minimal effort, an option that is still around today: as you may have guessed, <strong>Instagram filters and other current apps are the grandchildren of these early Photoshop \u201cpresets.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clk.tradedoubler.com\/click?p=264313&amp;a=2868646&amp;g=24644722&amp;epi=article_softonic_en&amp;url=https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/creativecloud\/plans.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-149818\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/1992-photoshop-2-5_iyputc.jpg\" width=\"776\" height=\"586\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Photoshop 3.0: More layers than an onion<\/h2>\n<p>Photoshop wouldn\u2019t be the same program today without layers. It wasn\u2019t until <strong>version 3.0, released in 1994<\/strong>, that the software gained this essential feature.<br \/>\nAlthough the Photoshop interface in the mid-1990s was a far cry from the current one, the features we use today were starting to appear.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clk.tradedoubler.com\/click?p=264313&amp;a=2868646&amp;g=24644722&amp;epi=article_softonic_en&amp;url=https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/creativecloud\/plans.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-149819\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/1993-photoshop-3_jxvyvz-150x113.jpg\" width=\"774\" height=\"581\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Photoshop 5.0: thank goodness for \u201cundo\u201d!<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to believe, but it wasn\u2019t until 1998 that the program gained a function that we find completely essential today: <strong>the ability to undo multiple edits at once<\/strong>. This feature came with the fifth version of Photoshop, appearing in the \u201cHistory\u201d window. And so, in the early 2000s, <strong>Photoshop gained RAW image-processing options<\/strong>, the standard for professional photographers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clk.tradedoubler.com\/click?p=264313&amp;a=2868646&amp;g=24644722&amp;epi=article_softonic_en&amp;url=https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/creativecloud\/plans.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-149821\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/2000-photoshop-6_albfry.jpg\" width=\"773\" height=\"578\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Photoshop Express: the age of online photo editing<\/h2>\n<p>When it came of age in 2008, Photoshop debuted in an online version: <strong>Photoshop Express<\/strong>. This meant we no longer had to download anything to do basic photo editing.<br \/>\nAlthough Photoshop Express wasn\u2019t the first online image-editing tool, Adobe managed to differentiate itself from the competition by <strong>offering free cloud space<\/strong> to its users, <strong>integration with the different photo services<\/strong> of the era and a <strong>simple interface<\/strong> that made image retouching accessible to even the most novice users.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clk.tradedoubler.com\/click?p=264313&amp;a=2868646&amp;g=24644722&amp;epi=article_softonic_en&amp;url=https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/creativecloud\/plans.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-149822\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/adobe-photoshop-express-beta_ojg6b6.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Adobe Creative Cloud: a subscription that changed everything<\/h2>\n<p>As Adobe\u2019s family grew, traditional Photoshop also significantly upgraded during the 2010s. After 20 years, Adobe\u2019s software was no longer just the benchmark for image editing, but also an <strong>essential tool for creators in all sectors and at all professional levels<\/strong>: designers, photographers, artists, filmmakers and much more.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why Adobe continued to improve the integration between Photoshop and the rest of its Creative Suite products (Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, etc.) and launched a new product in 2011: <strong>Adobe Creative Cloud<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clk.tradedoubler.com\/click?p=264313&amp;a=2868646&amp;g=24644722&amp;epi=article_softonic_en&amp;url=https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/creativecloud\/plans.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-149823\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/photoshop-cc-2017_kvi6ns.jpg\" width=\"769\" height=\"459\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And so the traditional model of buying a program in a certain version gave way to the software as a service model:<strong> instead of buying the program one time, you purchase a subscription<\/strong>. To infinity and beyond<\/h2>\n<p>While continuing to upgrade its program for desktop, Photoshop has expanded its brand in recent years, adding versions to meet every need and powerful mobile editions that have no reason to envy the ones for PCs.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, <strong>the old Photoshop Express has been an app for iOS and Android for a few years now<\/strong>, and the mobile app family has grown with <strong>Mix, Fix and Sketch<\/strong>, created for all graphic uses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clk.tradedoubler.com\/click?p=264313&amp;a=2868646&amp;g=24644722&amp;epi=article_softonic_en&amp;url=https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/creativecloud\/plans.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-149825\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2021\/04\/photoshop-express_fqfqjk-150x83.jpg\" width=\"728\" height=\"403\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition, the paid version of Photoshop for desktop <strong>can also be used on an iPad<\/strong>.
