Fortunately, it&#8217;s really easy to back up a Gmail account! <strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are the three most practical ways to do it<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<h3>1: Enable Offline Mail<\/h3>\n<p>Click the Gear tab on the top right of the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mail.google.com\/\">Gmail<\/a><\/strong> interface, choose mail settings and you&#8217;ll see a tab called <strong>Offline<\/strong>. To turn on Gmail Offline you have to install the <a href=\"http:\/\/google-gears.en.softonic.com\/\"><strong>Gears Plugin<\/strong><\/a> (standard in Chrome), but you are taken through this simple process as soon as you click <strong>Enable<\/strong>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15396\" title=\"GmailOffline\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2011\/02\/GmailOffline1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"596\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2011\/02\/GmailOffline1.png 596w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2011\/02\/GmailOffline1-300x117.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><br \/>\nYou can configure how much and what of your email you want to download, and which folders. Once it&#8217;s all downloaded you&#8217;ll have offline access from your desktop.<\/p>\n<h3>2: Use a desktop email client.<\/h3>\n<p>Download Mozilla&#8217;s excellent <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/thunderbird3.en.softonic.com\/\">Thunderbird<\/a><\/strong> desktop email client, then go to Gmail settings again and check<strong> Enable POP for all mail<\/strong>. Run the Thunderbird installer, and it will ask you for your email address (add your Gmail address here) the first time you start the program &#8211; and unless you want to get into any complicated set-up you can then just let Thunderbird download your entire Gmail account. Simply create an account, sign in and click the options question mark on the top right then choose <strong>more options<\/strong>. Here you&#8217;ll see a link saying <strong>Sending\/receiving email from other accounts<\/strong>.
