Although uTorrent<\/a> is a secure BitTorrent client, it is not private. Anyone can access your downloads and see your download history or trace the downloads back to you. You might want to add another layer of security and set up a proxy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A proxy disguises your IP address as another one, so download links cannot be traced back to you. Let\u2019s see how you can set up a proxy in uTorrent<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

  1. Go to \u2018Preferences\u2019<\/h2>\"How

    Run <\/span>uTorrent <\/span>on your computer by clicking on the icon on your desktop, start menu, or dock. Once the torrent downloader window opens, click on \u2018Options\u2019 in the top menu bar. From the drop-down list, click \u2018Preferences\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

  2. Go to \u2018Connections\u2019<\/h2>\"How

    In the preferences window that opens, click on the \u2018Connections\u2019 tab in the menu on the left side of the window to access the <\/span>proxy settings<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

  3. Choose SOCKS5 Proxy<\/h2>\"How

    – Under <\/span>Proxy<\/span> Server, click on the drop-down list next to <\/span>Proxy<\/span> Type and choose SOCKS5.<\/span><\/p>\n

    – Set up your <\/span>proxy<\/span> server address. If you use a <\/span>VPN<\/span>, you can add their details here.<\/span><\/p>\n

    – Insert the port type as 1080 for SOCKS5.<\/span><\/p>\n

    – Now enable the following settings \u2018Authentication\u2019, \u2018Use <\/span>Proxy<\/span> for Hostname Lookups\u2019, \u2018Use <\/span>Proxy<\/span> for Peer-to-Peer Connections\u2019, \u2018Disable all Local DNS Lookups\u2019, \u2018Disable Features that Leak Identifying Information\u2019 and \u2018Disable Connections Unsupported by Proxy\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

    – To finish the setup, you need to insert your username and password in the areas specified. Your <\/span>proxy<\/span> service would have given you these details.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><\/ol><\/div>
