Yes, that is right, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow you to keep the messages that you tell it to make disappear.

So, you are probably thinking that to achieve this all you need to do is turn off the disappearing messages feature in the first place, and you’d be right to think that. You can keep all your messages by turning off the disappearing messages feature altogether. However, WhatsApp has a specific use case in mind here and it actually makes sense.

Imagine you have a chat with a friend that is set to make all the messages you send disappear for one reason or the other. What if you want to share with this friend some important information such as where and when you are going to meet or information about a project you are working on together. Even though you want all of your usual messages to disappear, you may want these important messages that contain useful information to stay visible in the chat so that you can refer back to them when you need to remind yourself about the important information they contain. That is what this new feature is all about.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the Contact Info and Group Info pages will be getting a new Kept Messages section where you can refer back to all the messages you’ve decided to keep that would normally disappear.

As always, there is no news yet about when this feature will roll out to all users but if you stick with us at Softonic we will always keep you up to date with the latest WhatsApp News, so you won’t miss a thing.

Image via: WABetaInfo

We’ve been tracking the work WhatsApp has been doing to its disappearing messages feature for a while now including making the new WhatsApp feature easier to use.
