Netflix has announced via blog post that it is partnering with Microsoft to help it deliver ads to users of the new lower-priced tier<\/strong>. Microsoft\u2019s new title is Netflix\u2019s global advertising technology and sales partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post from Netflix is very short and doesn\u2019t contain many details about the plan or when we can expect it to launch, but it does show that things are advancing, and that Netflix is actively putting everything into place that will be needed to deliver the lower-priced plan<\/strong>. Netflix COO Greg Peters said<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn April we announced that we will introduce a new lower priced ad-supported subscription plan for consumers, in addition to our existing ads-free basic, standard, and premium plans. Today we are pleased to announce that we have selected Microsoft as our global advertising technology and sales partner.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have previously reported, however, that Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix has said he wants to see the new Netflix plan introduced before the end of the year<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft also announced the partnership on their own channels<\/strong>. Microsoft\u2019s President of Web Experiences Mikhail Parakhin said<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll ads served on Netflix will be exclusively available through the Microsoft platform. Today\u2019s announcement also endorses Microsoft\u2019s approach to privacy, which is built on protecting customers\u2019 information.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
