Amazon\u2019s Alexa is finally being put to good use as far as us horror gamers are concerned. With Gamescom 2022 officially underway, the tech giant opened the show with news that you\u2019ll be able to speak to zombies in Dead Island 2<\/strong>. The best part is that you don\u2019t need to call out Alexa\u2019s name when you do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides making the announcement on the show, Amazon made sure to mention it on its latest blog<\/a>. The Alexa feature<\/strong> will be built-in within Dead Island 2<\/strong>, so you won\u2019t need to worry about connecting to additional devices. It would be odd calling the personal assistant on your phone while hacking away at zombies in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another bonus is that you don\u2019t need to say Alexa\u2019s name every time you want to activate the feature<\/strong>. Can you imagine walking up to the undead and saying, \u201cHey, Alexa, Zombie I\u2019m going to kick your a\u2026\u201d? It would be really awkward, so Amazon is making sure it\u2019s not necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, how will it work, exactly? Apparently, you can speak directly into your microphone and Dead Island 2 will acknowledge it via Alexa. You can chat with NPCs and ask for directions, which is the main purpose. It gives you a better interaction with the characters<\/strong>, but we don\u2019t know which questions will work at this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My main issue is what will happen when you ask something the NPC doesn\u2019t have an answer to. Will we have to deal with them saying, \u201cI don\u2019t understand your question\u201d for every instance? Here\u2019s hoping Alexa knows all the answers<\/strong> by the time this is fully implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
