In one of his latest acts, he\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/transparency.twitter.com\/en\/reports\/covid19.html#2021-jul-dec\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">addressing the policy<\/a> that governs <strong>misinformation about COVID<\/strong>. Not only is it now allowed, but he\u2019s reinstating <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/twitch-becoming-a-pressroom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"thousands of accounts\">thousands of accounts<\/a> that were suspended due to sharing incorrect news about the pandemic before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This COVID misinformation policy came into being in 2020 when the pandemic struck the planet. There were so many people spreading <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/hive-social-twitter-alternative-record-numbers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"posts on Twitter\">posts on Twitter<\/a> about the <strong>virus being a scam<\/strong> or a government plot to take over the world, the platform decided to take action. If you head to the policy page now, it says the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEffective November 23, 2022, Twitter is no longer enforcing the COVID-19 misleading information policy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only can you now happily spread <strong>misleading information on COVID<\/strong>, but Musk is busy restoring thousands of Twitter accounts that were suspended. There are some that have over a million followers. I\u2019m sure the owners of those accounts will be glad they don\u2019t have to fight to get all those followers back again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In one of our recent articles, we mentioned that <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/elon-musk-strikes-back-at-apple-empire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"Apple wants to divorce Twitter\">Apple wants to divorce Twitter<\/a> due to Musk\u2019s intentions to promote freedom of speech. I wonder what they think about this latest move. After cleaning <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"Twitter\">Twitter<\/a> headquarters from almost half the staff, like Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, he\u2019s making sure that <strong>everyone can say what they want<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What fascinates me is that <strong>Musk\u2019s double standards<\/strong> are already starting to show. He <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/elon-musk-freedom-of-speech-hate-speech-impressions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"wants freedom of speech\">wants freedom of speech<\/a> but is culling the platform of porn-related accounts and content. Not only that, but he\u2019s quickly cleaning out parody accounts. Why? Because his massive fanbase wants it that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is it just me, or is Meta playing Monkey See, Monkey Do? It wasn\u2019t long after <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.en.softonic.com\/articles\/elon-musks-to-ruffle-twitter-feathers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"Twitter cut its workforce in half\">Twitter cut its workforce in half<\/a> when the Facebook company did the same thing. It looks like Meta is also investigating its <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.en.softonic.com\/articles\/security-concerns-twitters-verification-exploited\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"COVID-related policies\">COVID-related policies<\/a>.
