The beloved star of <a href=\"https:\/\/mummy-s-curse.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"The Mummy \">The Mummy <\/a>and George of the Jungle features in a new film called The Whale, where he plays an obese gay man trying to repair the damaged relationship he has with his teenage daughter. While Fraser is nominated for his outstanding performance at the upcoming <strong>Golden Globes awards<\/strong>, <strong>he\u2019s not going<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even just watching the trailer of The Whale should give you goosebumps at Fraser\u2019s brilliant performance. It\u2019s been a while since we\u2019ve seen him centerstage in a movie like this. For many of us, we can\u2019t wait to see it. However, the movie and the Golden Globe nomination are sadly <strong>tainted with the scars<\/strong> of the past and inherent present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Whale | Official Trailer HD | A24\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nWiQodhMvz4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2018, Brendan Fraser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/what-ever-happened-to-brendan-fraser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">had an interview<\/a> where he discussed why he hasn\u2019t been showing up in movies lately. He finally revealed that Philip Berk, the previous Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) president, <strong>sexually assaulted him in 2003<\/strong>. Even though Fraser had mentioned it to someone at that time, Berk denied all claims against him. It was shrugged off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The HFPA has had a rough past recently. As recent as February 2021, there was massive controversy due to there not being sufficient <strong>diversity in the management of the group<\/strong>. He received a <strong>standing ovation<\/strong> at the Venice Film Festival for his performance in The Whale. On the other side of the court, many people are saying there are sufficient obese gay men to play the role without the need for a fat suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No matter what the people\u2019s opinion, Fraser has made a clear statement that <strong>he won\u2019t be going to the Golden Globes Awards<\/strong> for his nomination. There\u2019s too much bad history there, and nothing the HFPA can repair it.
