If you have ever wanted to see our galaxy with the highest definition possible, you are in luck. A new state-of-the-art camera installed in Chile has created a spectacular image of the Milky Way, thus <strong>revealing more than three billion celestial objects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weighing in at (attention) 10 terabytes, the gigantic image covers a space equivalent to <strong>13,000 times the surface of the Moon<\/strong>, showing a myriad of elements, such as nebulae, stars and dark clouds of dust and gas. It was created <strong>by blending a total of 21,400 individual photographs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A feat of spatial mapping<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The image, which <strong>can be seen online through <a href=\"https:\/\/noirlab.edu\/public\/images\/noirlab2301a\/zoomable\/\" title=\"this link\">this link<\/a><\/strong> (with lower resolution), was captured by the <strong>Dark Energy Camera (DECam)<\/strong> of the V\u00edctor M Telescope. Target (4 meters high) at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/noirlab.edu\/public\/images\/noirlab2301a\/\" title=\"NOIRLab\">NOIRLab<\/a> <\/strong>of the National Science Foundation (NSF), located at the <strong>Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory<\/strong> (Chile).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This is quite <strong>a technical feat<\/strong>. Imagine a group photo of over three billion people and each individual being recognizable&#8221;said <strong>Debra Fischer<\/strong>, director of the NSF&#8217;s Division of Astronomical Sciences.
