On the morning of February 1, the company owned by billionaire Elon Musk (also owner of <strong>Twitter<\/strong>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spacex.com\/launches\/mission\/?missionId=sl5-3-pl\" title=\"launched its brand new Falcon 9 into orbit to deploy 53 of its Starlink \">launched its brand new Falcon 9 into orbit to deploy 53 of its <strong>Starlink<\/strong> <\/a>Internet satellites. The 200th flight of this rocket was carried out from NASA&#8217;s <strong>Kennedy Space Center<\/strong> in Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/Falcon-9-despegue-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-269998\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The liftoff was accomplished using a powerful first stage that the rocket jettisoned at 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and that safely landed on SpaceX&#8217;s &#8220;<strong>A Shortfall of Gravitas<\/strong>&#8221; drone 6 minutes later. One hour after liftoff, the second stage of the spacecraft successfully deployed the 53 satellites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed-Youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SpaceX Falcon 9 Launches Starlink 5-3 Mission\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/z4lkiy4QZ1A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Falcon 9?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Falcon 9 is one of three launch vehicles in the Falcon family: <strong>Falcon 1, Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy<\/strong>, designed and built by the private aerospace company SpaceX, funded by Elon Musk. The company conducts various types of <strong>orbital launches in collaboration with NASA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/falcon-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-269999\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Falcon 1, the first model built, was designed to deliver a <strong>1,010 kg payload<\/strong> into orbit at a lower cost than other space launch vehicles. Its eventual successor, Falcon 9, was designed to compete with the Delta family of launchers, as it <strong>can lift payloads of up to 8,300 kg <\/strong>into geostationary orbit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Falcon Heavy, the &#8220;heavyweight&#8221; of the family, has the first stages of three Falcon 9 launch vehicles joined together to form a single first stage and is <strong>designed to carry 53,000 kg to orbit<\/strong>, nearly twice as much as its direct rival, Boeing&#8217;s Delta IV Heavy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first Falcon 9 test flight took place on June 4, 2010, from <strong>Cape Canaveral<\/strong>, and the first resupply mission to the International Space Station took place on October 7, 2012.
