In mid-January, we talked about a declassified report from the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency<\/strong> detailing that the U.S. is tracking 510 UFO<\/strong> (unidentified flying object) sightings<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although most people think of the typical flying saucer<\/strong>, UFOs<\/a> as such are all those aerial objects that cannot be identified. From weather balloons to drones<\/strong>, the possibilities are vast, but there is always room for imagination, and even more so when not much information is provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This weekend, a U.S. Army Air Forces F-16<\/strong> shot down an unidentified flying object flying over Lake Huron<\/strong><\/a> on the Canadian border. The most unusual thing about this event is that it is not an isolated case, as it is the third such sighting to take place in North America in less than a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UFO flying over Lake Huron was shot down on the express orders of U.S. President Joe Biden<\/strong>, who heeded the concerns and recommendations of military commanders. According to the White House, the unidentified object was “the size of a small car”<\/strong> and posed a “reasonable threat” to commercial flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Its trajectory and altitude raised concerns, not least because of the danger it could pose to civil aviation. The location chosen for this shootdown gave us the opportunity to avoid impact to people on the ground while improving the chances of debris recovery. There is no indication that civilians were injured or otherwise affected,” the U.S. Aerospace Defense Command<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being given the green light by the President of the United States, a U.S. Army F-16 fighter fired a sidewinder<\/strong> missile at the UFO, which was supposed to be octagonal in shape, shooting it down on the spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unidentified flying object shot down on Sunday is the third of its kind destroyed in a week in the Americas<\/strong>, and the fourth if the downing of a suspected Chinese spy balloon<\/strong> is taken into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, political tension between China and the United States rose sharply<\/strong> after the U.S. government monitored and subsequently shot down a Chinese device. While the U.S. version is that it was a spy balloon, China claims that it was only a civilian weather balloon<\/strong>, unrelated to its government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
