In recent Twitter updates, Elon Musk has changed the tweet display algorithm, so that, yes or yes, you end up seeing some of his comments, responses or retweets. If you didn’t want Musk, have two cups.

“Look at me y’all, I’m special”

A few days ago, we witnessed with great astonishment how the timelines of all Twitter users were divided into two. On the one hand, “For you” is a timeline in which the displayed tweets depend exclusively on the algorithm of the social network, including (or not) tweets related to the people we follow, our likes, etc.

On the other hand, “Following” is a timeline in which we will see only and exclusively the tweets of the people we follow from our account, including their retweets, and in chronological order. In this way, we see the most recent content at the top and the oldest at the bottom.

Previously, you could select which timeline you could view and leave it that way until you changed the settings yourself. Not anymore. Since the last change, every time you want to enter the app you will see the “For you” timeline, with algorithmic preferences, having to manually change to “Following” if you want to stop seeing tweets from people you are not interested in.

Is everyone else's entire For You page Elon replies ?
— Zoë Schiffer (@ZoeSchiffer) February 13, 2023

And Musk hasn’t exactly been dumb.
