Microsoft<\/strong> is far from stupid, and when it invested several billion dollars in OpenAI<\/strong>, the “parents” of ChatGPT<\/strong>, they knew what they were doing. Earlier this month, the company announced that the popular chatbot-like artificial intelligence would be present in both its Bing<\/strong> search engine and its Microsoft Edge<\/strong> browser through an integration Microsoft has dubbed the “Prometheus Model”<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Although the first answers given by this AI have been somewhat erratic<\/a>, the integration with Bing is now available, and allows users to ask the Microsoft search engine questions or ask it to carry out some work involving text<\/strong>. The feature can be used by clicking on the Bing button in the top right corner of the Microsoft Edge browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, only those who are part of the Microsoft Edge Preview Program<\/strong> will be able to see and use this advanced search feature. Registration is free<\/strong> and can be done through the Microsoft Edge Insider website<\/a><\/strong>, using your Microsoft account (including Hotmail and Outlook emails<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you have selected your preferred version of Edge: Beta, Dev or Canary<\/strong> (they differ only in the frequency with which they receive updates), you will have access to the new Bing button in the browser. After clicking on it, a sidebar will extend from the right side of the browser window with three sections: “Chat”<\/strong>, “Compose”<\/strong> and “Insights”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Chat function, you can ask Bing anything about the website you are on<\/strong>, and the AI will respond to your query. You can ask it, for example, to compare a product you see with a similar one (such as a TV) and tell you which one is better, or see if you can find it cheaper on other websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Compose function, you can ask Bing, for example, to draw up a list<\/strong> of the best products in a category, ordered from best to worst, or even to write you an email<\/strong> (something that Addy, an AI derived from ChatGPT<\/a>, could already do).
