The TV application on our Mac is the way to access all the content of Apple TV+, the streaming platform of the apple company, as well as the one that gives us access to buy or rent movies and TV shows. All in all, there is a lot of catalog to which we have access, which is why refining the navigation is really important<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

A new navigation in the face of a growing catalog<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As discovered by 9to5Mac<\/a>, Apple is working on a redesign of the Mac TV app. The latest beta version of macOS 13.3 contains the new design, which includes a navigation sidebar that is broken down into different sections<\/strong>, such as “Apple TV,” “Store,” “Library,” “Devices,” and “Playlists.” While the redesign does not offer significant visual changes, it is an important step in making the TV app on Mac easier to navigate, as until now it only featured a tab bar at the top of the interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Apple TV” section of the sidebar contains sections dedicated to “Watch Now” and “Apple TV+”<\/strong>. From here we can also access any Apple TV channel we subscribe to, such as MLS Season Pass, Showtime or Starz. On the other hand, the “Store” section allows us to buy movies and TV shows through the iTunes Store, while the “Library” section gives us access to previously purchased content, rentals and all that comes from family sharing, among other options.<\/p>\n\n\n

It is still unclear when Apple plans to launch the redesign of the TV app for Mac. What is true is that, while virtually all applications – Photos, App Store, Music, Shortcuts and a long etcetera – already enjoyed this design<\/strong>, the TV app was still showing us tabs. At least until we went to the Library tab, where a sidebar did appear.<\/p>\n\n\n

In any case, the new interface aligns with the iPad TV app<\/strong>, which received a navigation sidebar with the iPadOS 15.2 update. For now, considering switching Netflix to Apple TV+<\/a>, we’ll have to wait a bit longer until the new design goes live. But it stands to reason that the final version of macOS 13.3, coming alongside iOS 16.4 and the rest of the systems and almost in time for the premiere of Ted Lasso’s third season<\/a>, will bring this change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
