Warner Bros Discovery<\/a> has just released some big news: as of May 23, the HBO Max platform will change its name simply to Max<\/strong> in the United States, a change that will come to Spain next year. The announcement comes with the intention of making a new, more complete catalog on the platform, adding all the new Discovery Plus<\/a> releases.<\/p>\n\n\n

However, the announcement has not come alone, but with dozens of news<\/strong>: Max will add to its catalog a spectacular new Harry Potter series<\/a>, and will also include new series of The Big Bang Theory<\/a>, The Batman<\/a> or Rick and Morty<\/a>. But, among all this news, the one the world is looking forward to the most is The Knight of Seven Kingdoms, the series adapted from the book A Knight of Seven Kingdoms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series will be a new prequel to Game of Thrones<\/a>, and will coexist alongside the wonderful House of the Dragon. But what do we know about this new HBO series that will premiere on Max?<\/strong> Below, we try to answer the questions that all fans are asking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series will be the adaptation of Tales of Dunk and Egg<\/strong>, a series of stories starring the same characters and set in Westeros that George RR Martin published between 1998 and 2010. These tales are divided into three novels that were published during these years: The Knight Errant, The Loyal Sword and The Mysterious Knight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the three novels were published, they were collected in 2015 in the book A Knight of Seven Kingdoms<\/strong>. And, despite being standalone, it works almost as a three-act story in which we see a great evolution of the protagonist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As confirmed by HBO<\/a> president Casey Boys, the full title of the project is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. That is, The Knight Errant<\/strong>. Thus, the series is expected to adapt the three novels in a linear fashion, from the origins of the protagonist to its end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But who is the protagonist of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? <\/strong>Dung is the nickname of Ser Duncan the Tall. He is an illustrious knight of House Targaryen who always travels with his squire. It is set ninety years before what happened in Game of Thrones, and has a much kinder tone than the rest of the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is, in The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms we will live dozens of adventures with the protagonists, with a series more similar to The Witcher<\/a> than to Game of Thrones itself<\/strong>, which is based much more on political intrigues and betrayals than on adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cast and Crew of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The series has just announced its development with George RR Martin as executive producer<\/strong> and Ira Parker, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis as showrunners. This is the same team behind Dragon House, so you can expect an equally significant result.<\/p>\n\n\n

As for the cast, since the series has been confirmed, we do not yet know who the actors who will play the main characters are. However, as it is an adaptation of a book we know what profiles may be needed: the main ones are Dung and Egg, knight and squire respectively<\/strong>. But a slightly older actor will also be needed for the knight Arlan of the Coin Tree and other profiles such as Prince Baelor, Aerion Targaryen, the knight Steffon Fossoway or Ser Humfrey Hardyng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with House of the Dragon<\/a><\/strong>, there are many characters that come and go in this book, and the series will try to bring them all together so that we can meet them as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When is the premiere of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This new Game of Thrones prequel does not yet have an expected premiere date<\/strong>. But, considering that Max will officially arrive worldwide in 2024 and that they have many other projects coming up, we most likely won’t see the series until 2025 at the earliest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This would fit in with Max’s plans, as a similar release is planned for the new Harry Potter series<\/a>. If so, we would be talking about a 2025-2026<\/strong> full of great new releases and in which the platform can overtake Netflix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
