Do you remember Winamp<\/strong>? If you already have a few gray hairs, you probably do. Winamp was the music player par excellence for all of us who had a PC between the 90s and the 2000s. Although it enjoyed great popularity for more than a decade, the emergence of YouTube<\/strong> (where people could listen to music online) and the subsequent popularization of players like Media Player Classic<\/strong> and VLC Media Player<\/strong> eventually dethroned the king, which retired from the market in 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Many years later, Winamp came back and announced that it would return as an all-rounder app<\/a><\/strong>, with music player, streaming services, podcast, radio stations, audiobooks and more features, something that would finally happen in 2022<\/strong>, when the first full version of the player was released after its return: 5.9 Final.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, a year after its return, Winamp has announced on its Twitter account<\/a><\/strong> the launch of a completely revamped version of Winamp<\/strong>. In addition to a redesigned interface <\/strong>and the features it already had so far, the new Winamp will also include a number of features aimed at content creators<\/strong> with which they will be able to add subscription plans for users to access certain types of content according to rank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the complete overhaul of Winamp is positive in essence, it could also cause a lot of backlash among many of the program’s fans, who still cling to the nostalgia of the player’s<\/strong> “good old days”<\/strong>. Still, it would be a logical step for an app that aims to follow in the footsteps of the big audio companies, such as Spotify<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
