Several spectators will assemble to cheer on the participants at the Boston Marathon, who will exhibit robustness, resoluteness, and courage while completing the well-known 26.2-mile course. According to a statement by the Boston Athletic Association<\/a>, more than 30,000 individuals will participate in the race on Monday, striving for athletic excellence from all corners of the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n

BAA President & Chief Executive Officer Jack Fleming and BAA Chairman of the Board Dr. Michael O\u2019Leary, in a combined statement, expressed their well-wishes for all participants of the Boston Marathon. From first-time qualifiers embarking on their eagerly awaited journey from Hopkinton to Boston, to experienced veterans who have traversed the course before, they hope that everyone has an unforgettable race week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s Boston Marathon will feature the most robust group of professional athletes in the marathon’s history. The group will be spearheaded by Eliud Kipchoge, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and world record holder, as well as Gotytom Gebreslase, the current world marathon champion from Ethiopia. Notably, both of these athletes will be making their debut appearance in Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these top runners, other accomplished athletes will also participate in the race. The defending champion, Evans Chebet, along with two-time winner Edna Kiplagat, 2021 victor Benson Kipruto, and American champion Des Linden, are among the notable contenders who will compete in this year’s marathon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wheelchair division of the Boston Marathon will witness the return of Manuela Sch\u00e4r and Daniel Romanchuk, who aim to secure their fifth and third Boston Marathon titles, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, winners of the marathon will be awarded prize money. This year, a total sum of $876,500 will be distributed among the race participants, according to officials from BAA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prize money for the Boston Marathon in the open division includes $150,000 for the winner, $75,000 for the second-place winner, and $40,000 for the third-place winner. Participants who finish in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh places will be awarded $25,000, $18,000, $13,500, and $10,500, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the wheelchair division, the top winner will receive $25,000, and the second- and third-place winners will be awarded $15,000 and $7,500, respectively. In the masters division, the top winner will be awarded $5,000, while in the para athletics division, the top winner will receive $1,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boston Marathon passes through eight different cities and towns and will be supported by approximately 10,000 volunteers to assist race participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
