To start, let’s make sure our device is updated to the latest available version of its operating system, which we’ll do in Settings > General > Software Update. Next let’s check that we are logged in with our Apple account. Then the steps to follow are as follows:

We open the Settings app on our iPhone or iPad.

At the top, we touch our name.

Go to Search.

Tap on Find my iPhone/iPad.

We activate Find My iPhone/iPad, Search Network and also Send Last Location, what the device when the battery level is very low.

How to use the Find My iPhone feature

Now, once configured, we can use the Search app to locate our devices. Here we have several options, three specifically, depending on whether we are going to use another of our devices, the web or someone else’s device, even if it was Android.

From another iOS device: if we have another Apple device, such as an iPad or a Mac, we simply open the Find app, which we can download from the App Store, and log in with our Apple ID. From the application, we can see the location of our device on a map and perform actions such as playing a sound, blocking it or deleting its contents.

From a web browser: if we do not have another device at hand, we can access the Find My iPhone feature from any web browser. Simply go to iCloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple ID. We select the device we want to locate from the drop-down menu and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the actions mentioned above. This method also works on Android and Windows devices and, in general, any device with a browser and internet connection.

From someone else’s Apple device: if we have an Apple device, but from another person, we can also use the browser method, but also access from the Find app. We simply close any session that was active from the app and then enter our own.

Regardless of where we access the information from, there are several things to keep in mind. If the device we are looking for is nearby, and if we are not heading to that location marked on the map, let’s use the “Play sound” option to make it emit an alert sound, even if it is in silent mode.

Meanwhile, in the case of suspected theft or loss, “Lost Mode” can be activated to lock the device with a passcode and display a personalized message with a contact phone number on the locked screen. Ultimately, if there is no hope of recovering the device, you can remotely erase all of its contents using the “Erase iPhone” option.

Some tips for using the Find My iPhone feature

The usefulness of the Find network, which we often refer to as Find My iPhone, is enormous. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind. The most important is that, to use it, it is necessary that the device from which we want to see the information is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or mobile data. Something, on the other hand, that we can solve through Internet Sharing on iPhone.

On the other hand, location accuracy can be affected by several factors. An iPhone turned on and connected to the internet gives absolute accuracy, while one turned off or without battery, has to rely on the location provided by other Apple devices on the network, so the accuracy is somewhat lower.

When faced with a lost device, it is important to protect the privacy of the Apple account, avoiding sharing the ID and password with anyone and, highly recommended, changing the latter as soon as possible. Finally, if the iPhone has been stolen, never try to recover it on your own, but contact the local authorities and provide them with all the necessary information for the case and the necessary support.

The Find My iPhone or simply Find feature, very much in line with the iPhone accessibility options, is a really valuable tool for those times when an iPhone, iPad, AirPods or even a Mac is missing. Setting up and using this feature is very simple and can make all the difference when it comes to recovering a device.

        Find My IPhone
        DOWNLOAD

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

Some of the links added in the article are part of affiliate campaigns and may represent benefits for Softonic.

Setting up and using this feature is very easy and can make all the difference when it comes to recovering a device.

[1015
3966,1405
["post-226130","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-buscar","tag-iphone
["GET
