Beetlejuice 2 will hit the screens 36 years after its prequel<\/strong>, and it will do it from Warner Bros<\/a>., the original studio of the film, under the seal of the production company Plan B, owned by Brad Pitt<\/a>. We know that the protagonist will be Jenna Ortega<\/a>, but there are many more unknowns about the film, so here is everything we know about Beetlejuice 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Beetlejuice 2 about?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first question is obvious: what is the synopsis for Beetlejuice 2?<\/strong> It’s clear that it’s been a long time since the first one, so it should be sufficiently different from it to make sense. But what will this new Tim Burton<\/a> movie tell us about?<\/strong> Will it have a direct connection with the first one? Will it repeat characters? Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), returns to offer his services as a bioexorcist to help ghosts kick out of their house any living being that is a nuisance. Just name him three times and this underworld character, with few manners and a lot of imagination, offers to help you. With his unorthodox shapes, his striped suit, and preference for the dead, this creepy creature is capable of transforming or modulating his body at will in the most diverse and grotesque ways, never with a good purpose. To deceive, to scare or to cause some kind of pain, are some of its preferred services. Back on the board, he will play with the new tenants until the house becomes their worst nightmare and they have to resort to him, who is dying to go up to the kingdom of the living.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this synopsis could also be valid for the first film, and it only explains what happens to the main ghost character<\/strong>. For the rest we will have to wait, although we can make guesses. At the moment, we know that Jenna Ortega will play the daughter of Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder<\/a>) and that she will also be there. So, it could be a sort of mother-daughter adventure – or even a mother-daughter showdown – with Beetlejuice in the middle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As much as Tim Burton likes to talk about parent-child relationships and non-acceptance of weirdness, it’s clear that we could sense where this is going<\/strong>. However, it remains to be seen what we will finally find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cast of Beetlejuice 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What we do know a bit more about is the main cast of the film. First of all, we know that Michael Keaton will return as Beetlejuice. The Birdman star, who has returned to his role as Batman in The Flash<\/a><\/strong>, now does the same with his other great icon of the big screen generated by Tim Burton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also reprising her role from the 1988 feature film is Winona Ryder<\/strong>. The actress who returned to the top thanks to Stranger Things has confirmed her presence as Lydia Deetz, her first role in Hollywood and the one that led her to be one of the most recognized actresses of the nineties. We don’t know if her role will be short or long, but it will be important for sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other confirmed actress is Jenna Ortega. The actress who starred in Wednesday seems to have everything to take over from Winona Ryder<\/strong>, and so much so that she will play her daughter in Beetlejuice 2. Considering the fame she is gaining lately, she will most likely star alongside Keaton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, one actor has been confirmed in an unconfirmed role: Justin Theroux. The Leftovers star<\/strong> and regular collaborator of David Lynch with Island Empire and Mulholland Drive is the last of the big actors confirmed, although his role is still unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filming of Beetlejuice 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Filming on Beetlejuice 2 began on May 10, 2023<\/strong> in the city of London (England, United Kingdom). It is likely to take about two months, which is the most common for filming of this style, and most of the scenes are located at Warner Bros. Pictures’ studios in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release date of Beetlejuice 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tim Burton’s film will be released on September 6, 2024<\/strong>, one year after its shooting. In this way, they will be able to apply all the special effects, which are sure to be many, that will be used in the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
