Disney+ faces a critical moment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the last conference with investors, the company’s CEO Bob Iger has revealed that the company has lost 4 million subscribers,<\/strong> totaling 157.8 million which is far from analysts’ expectations. The main reason is that Disney has lost the rights to broadcast the Indian Cricket Premier League, which has caused massive casualties in the countries where they are followers of this sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, despite the number of casualties due to such a “silly” cause, the platform must take action. That is why Iger has explained that they are going to “become much more precise with what they do<\/strong>“, and has also announced that they will remove the least watched content from the platform, something that David Zaslav is already doing at HBO Max<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this controversial measure, Disney expects to save between 1.5 and 1.8 billion dollars a year. However, this may cause some less regular subscribers to end up getting angry with the company<\/strong>, and what Disney Plus<\/a><\/strong> is least interested in right now is to earn Netflix’s fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While this is happening, Disney must decide what to do with Hulu<\/strong>. The company owns more than half of this company, but Comcast is competing with the rest, and in January 2024 they will have to decide whether to buy it completely or let it go. This could mean a new leap for Disney Plus<\/strong>, but it adds to a situation in which everything they save is good.<\/p>\n\n\n
