But it has also managed to become one of the most-watched movies, with enormous box office success worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such is its power that, one year later, the feature film has once again broken a new record. <strong>It is unheard of in the industry<\/strong> and something only enormous films with periodic re-releases like Avatar or E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial have achieved before, so Tom Cruise can be more than pleased with this accomplishment (although not literally, as that&#8217;s quite a feat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Top Gun: Maverick - Official Trailer (2022) - Paramount Pictures\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qSqVVswa420?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tom Cruise&#8217;s highest-grossing film in Japan\u2026 which is no small feat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As reported by Deadline, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/lady-gaga-oscar-hold-my-hand-top-gun-maverick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Top Gun: Maverick<\/a> has broken a new box office record in Japan<\/strong> one year after its original release. The film is still being screened in Japanese theaters despite its initial release in May 2022, and it has become Tom Cruise&#8217;s highest-grossing film in the country, raking in a whopping $101.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In doing so, the movie <strong>has surpassed Cruise&#8217;s 2003 film, The Last Samurai, which was a massive hit in Japan<\/strong>. This milestone is significant, placing Top Gun: Maverick as the second highest-grossing film of 2022, only behind the monumental success of Avatar: The Waterbender.
