The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalmobileawards.com\/\"><strong>Global Mobile Awards 2012<\/strong><\/a> celebrated the industry\u2019s favorite mobile applications and games of the last year.<\/p>\n<p>There weren\u2019t too many big surprises in the apps categories, but it was nice to see developers of popular favorites rewarded for their efforts. Visit the awards site for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalmobileawards.com\/winners2012.php\"><strong>full list of winners<\/strong><\/a>, including the victors in other mobile sectors, such as devices and services.<\/p>\n<h3>WhatsApp<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/whatsapp.en.softonic.com\/iphone\"><strong>WhatsApp<\/strong><\/a> was the king of the Global Mobile Awards this year, winning the prize for <strong>Best Overall Mobile App<\/strong>. The text messaging application has revolutionized the way people communicate. The Cambridge-based start-up behind SwiftKey won the <strong>Most Innovative Mobile App<\/strong> award. Here\u2019s what the top app authors say they like best (they weren\u2019t allowed to pick their own app, of course!)<\/p>\n<h3>Facebook\/Twitter<\/h3>\n<p>Beatrice Farina, Vice President, Communications, <strong>Shazam<\/strong>, chose <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.en.softonic.com\/\">Facebook<\/a><\/strong> and <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.en.softonic.com\/android\"><strong>Twitter<\/strong><\/a> as her must-have apps. She told us: \u201cI love all applications for social networks. I love to share information with people around me anytime. He said: \u201cI\u2019m a lover of photography and I must admit that Hipstamatic is truly amazing. Here are the titles that really stood out for us:<\/p>\n<h3>Photoshop Touch<\/h3>\n<p>Launched for iPad on the <a href=\"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/mobile-world-congress-day-1-round-up\"><strong>first day<\/strong><\/a> of the MWC, the tablet version of <a href=\"http:\/\/adobe-photoshop-touch.en.softonic.com\/iphone\"><strong>Photoshop<\/strong><\/a> is a joy to behold. It offers powerful photo editing features not seen in any other mobile application, wrapped within a user interface that\u2019s easy to find your way around even if you\u2019re a novice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23324\" title=\"Photoshop touch\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/photoshop.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/photoshop.png 440w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/photoshop-300x102.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Glympse<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/glympse.com\/\"><strong>Glympse<\/strong><\/a> is a truly remarkable app that allows you to share your precise location with people in real time. Followers can see where you are on a map and track your movements as you travel. The developer announced some updates to the app, which now includes Android Beam support, and the ability to sync your calendar with Glympse to share your location with people you\u2019re due to meet with.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23326\" title=\"Glympse\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/glympse.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/glympse.png 440w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/glympse-300x102.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>CoPilot Live<\/h3>\n<p>This top-class mobile navigation software announced an interesting new agreement with Renault. <a href=\"http:\/\/copilotlive.com\"><strong>CoPilot Live<\/strong><\/a> has been selected as the official supplier of navigation for the new <strong>Renault Twingo<\/strong>. The car maker will install the Audio Oxygen Series O in-car system in the Twingo. The driver simply inserts their iPhone into a special holder, transforming it into a dashboard where they can get turn-by-turn navigation delivered by CoPilot.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23328\" title=\"CoPilot Live\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/copilot.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/copilot.png 440w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/copilot-300x102.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Catch<\/h3>\n<p>This application simplifies the way you capture and share ideas and information. The developer of <a href=\"https:\/\/market.android.com\/details?id=com.threebanana.notes\"><strong>Catch<\/strong><\/a> showed off the app\u2019s innovative voice-to-text technology, which allows you to speak into your phone and Catch will turn your words into text. Support for NFC will also be added to the application, allowing you to quickly share documents between devices. The enhancements will be added for users with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23329\" title=\"Catch\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/catch.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/catch.png 440w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/03\/catch-300x102.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Scalado Remove<\/h3>\n<p>We finally got a chance to try out this much-hyped augmented reality photography app. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scalado.com\/display\/en\/Remove\"><strong>Scalado Remove<\/strong><\/a> allows you to delete items from a photo that ruin what would otherwise be a great shot. You can wipe out passing cars, tourists or stray dogs from your shot with just a tap of the screen.
