Although very occasionally Twitter<\/strong> surprises us with good news<\/a>, the microblogging social network has gone from bad to worse since Elon Musk<\/strong>, owner of SpaceX<\/a><\/strong> and Tesla<\/a><\/strong>, took full control of the company after paying a whopping $44 billion<\/strong> (if with just one million we would already have our life solved, imagine multiplying that amount by 44,000).<\/p>\n\n\n

And, beyond the unpopular measures<\/a> that the billionaire has been taking, Twitter as a company has less and less staff<\/strong>; what began with a massive (and constant<\/a>) layoff of most of its workers (including those who did not want to stay after implementing abusive working conditions<\/a>), has ended up leading to the departure of many of its engineers and senior managers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A trend that seems to be far from over, as Twitter’s Director of Trust and Safety, Ella Irwin<\/a><\/strong>, resigned this week. As confirmed by the former Twitter executive to Reuters<\/a><\/strong>, the resignation comes after several months in which the company has faced harsh criticism related to Twitter’s limited measures to curb child exploitation<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irwin was part of the group of Twitter employees loyal to Musk. His actions at the company included the release of confidential internal Twitter information<\/a> as part of the “Twitter Files,”<\/strong> which exposed the company’s operations until Musk’s buyout, and the banning of Twitter accounts that were dedicated to monitoring Elon Musk’s travels in his private jet<\/a> (which used public information).<\/p>\n\n\n

This departure makes things even more difficult for Twitter and Musk, who over the past few months has had serious difficulty retaining advertisers<\/strong> on the platform due to Twitter’s apparent inability to prevent brand ads from appearing alongside inappropriate content (an even bigger problem considering the near total absence of human moderators).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
