A group of researchers at <strong>George Washington University<\/strong> (USA) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igiejournal.org\/article\/S2949-7086(23)00052-3\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">created<\/a> a capsule with magnetic control that <strong>can be driven with joysticks<\/strong>, as if it were a console controller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This type of capsule will be a turning point in the world of healthcare, and more specifically in the performance of endoscopies. According to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/medical\/magnetically-controlled-pill-cam-driven-where-its-needed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">New Atlas<\/a><\/strong>, until now there have only been two procedures: the traditional one, involving the introduction of a <strong>thin, flexible tube with a built-in camera<\/strong> that travels from the mouth to the upper gastrointestinal tract, and the &#8220;modern&#8221; one, involving capsules that are swallowed and move through the intestine, taking advantage of their own motility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo aligncenter wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Researching Alternatives to an Endoscopy - 3Qs with Andrew Meltzer\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/827024461?h=028b4617d2&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The creation of these new magnetically controlled capsules, called <strong>NaviCam<\/strong>, is a major breakthrough, as it will allow physicians to have <strong>more freedom in viewing certain areas of the intestine<\/strong> and not rely on the natural movements of the intestine. In addition, this new method <strong>does not require anesthesia<\/strong>, which makes the process easier for both doctors and patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/image.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-233400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/image.jpg 800w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/image-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/image-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/image-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/image-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The capsules created by ANX Robotica offer a <strong>160-degree field of view<\/strong>, continuous video with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels per inch and a frame rate of 0.5 to 6 frames per second using a single camera. To monitor the capsules, patients must put on a data recording vest and lie down on a stretcher under a special magnet.
