What a bombshell we have just received. If all goes according to plan, after the success of the Super Mario Bros. movie,<\/a> Nintendo and Universal will develop a joint The Legend of Zelda movie<\/a><\/strong>, which would arrive under the Illumination label. Undoubtedly, this is a very difficult challenge to pull off, but it makes perfect sense considering how well Breath of the Wild<\/a> and the recent Tears of the Kingdom<\/a> have performed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

If this film is made, it would be the first time that Nintendo has made a commitment to bring its most recognizable epic hero to the big screen. <\/strong>It is not surprising that it has taken so long to make such a decision, considering that we came from a time when Super Mario <\/strong>was synonymous with a very rare film that looked like a B-movie. But, now that the season has opened, it seems like the perfect time to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Legend of Zelda 3D movie that was proposed in 2007<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

However, over the years there have been alternative proposals with the idea of turning The Legend of Zelda <\/a><\/strong>into a movie. And one of the most talked about is a 3D version that even had a videopitch<\/strong> -a presentation trailer with a feature film proposal- that made it clear that this movie could have been made much earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, we are talking about the work that Imagi Animation Studios, the animation studio behind Astro Boy <\/a><\/strong>(2009) and TMNT <\/a><\/strong>(2007) carried out in 2007. The studio wanted to make a Zelda movie<\/strong>, and for this purpose they prepared a small 3D short film in which they demonstrated how good something like this would be for this saga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Nintendo <\/a>never liked the proposal<\/strong>, and finally rejected it. The project came to nothing, and Imagi Animation Studios was unable to fulfill their dream of making a movie of the character. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a look at the previous work they carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
