Scarlett Johansson is famous for being the only female member of the original Avengers, quickly becoming an essential character for Marvel until her ultimate demise in Avengers: Endgame. The heroine was honored with a standalone film that served as a prequel, passing the torch to Florence Pugh as Black Widow.

However, a series of legal disputes between Johansson and Disney resulted in her departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe not being as idyllic as initially believed. In fact, the actress even stated in a podcast with Gwyneth Paltrow that her days as Natasha Romanoff were over. However, this may soon change.

Will she return as Black Widow?

“During the press conference for Asteroid City, Wes Anderson’s latest film presented at the Cannes Film Festival, the actress revealed that she is currently working on a project with Kevin Feige for Marvel. It’s something that was announced shortly after her solo film, but seemed to have been put on hold due to the legal disputes. Her exact words were:

‘It’s something that is still happening. Yes, it’s happening, although not currently. We are all in this waiting period while we wait for the writer’s strike to be resolved, and maybe even our own guild strike, and so on… but, right before the strike, we were in the middle of its development, and now everything is moving slowly.’

The project she is referring to is a secret, but it could potentially be something that involves Johansson as a producer rather than an actress. There were talks in the past about the possibility of an A-Force project featuring Marvel’s female heroes, which could serve as a tribute to the character of Black Widow. It would certainly be a nice way to rekindle the relationship between the actress and the studio.”
