Now, thanks to one of them, we may have the key to better understanding the origins of the universe itself<\/strong>. Just a few days ago, NASA’s James Webb Space<\/strong> Telescope detected the presence of a supermassive black hole<\/a> that existed 13.2 billion years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This colossal black hole<\/a> is located at the center of the galaxy CEERS 1019 and is the oldest one discovered to date<\/strong> by scientists. Its age is so immense that the scientific community doesn’t even know how it could have formed. While most detected black holes appeared around a billion years ago, this one is estimated to have originated 13.8 billion years after the Big Bang itself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discovered<\/a> by a team of researchers from the University of Texas<\/strong>, this titanic cosmic void has a mass about nine million times that of the Sun<\/strong>. And it continues to grow, as is typical for supermassive black holes, as it has been determined that it “feeds” on the surrounding interstellar gas and dust<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
