As much as I enjoy writing about artificial intelligence, my everyday use of it is quite\u2026 limited. Rarely do I find myself resorting to AI to generate an image<\/a><\/strong>, let alone a piece of text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, other writers have a different approach and often use artificial intelligences like ChatGPT<\/a><\/strong> to compose parts of their articles or even entire pieces<\/strong>. This trend is becoming more widespread than many would prefer and could potentially jeopardize many job positions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Now, Google <\/strong>has decided to give a little boost to this trend and has announced that it is developing an AI that would assist writers and journalists in writing news articles<\/strong>. This new artificial intelligence, which has been reported by The New York Times<\/a><\/strong>, goes by the provisional name of Genesis <\/strong>and is capable of receiving information and generating informative content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the sources consulted by TNYT, Google’s intentions with this AI are to assist journalists as a personal assistant, automating some tasks so that professionals have more time for other activities. The company views this technology as “supportive” and not as a substitute for media professionals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In collaboration with news editors, especially smaller ones, we are in the early stages of exploring ideas to potentially provide AI-based tools that help their journalists in their work,” stated Jenn Crider, a spokesperson for Google, who also mentioned that the AI could be used to suggest headlines and writing styles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Indeed, this new tool could be very interesting for professionals in terms of assistance, but it does not eliminate the concerns of media outlets about the possibility that this artificial intelligence could replace them or even make it easier for any user to generate news<\/strong>, greatly increasing the likelihood of spreading misinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
