This is quite normal because, while anime involves the art of economizing resources and doing more with less, Junji Ito&#8217;s drawings are the exact opposite\u2014characterized by an extensive use of individual lines and details. <strong>His style clashes with the typical anime aesthetics<\/strong>. Therefore, an anime adaptation of Junji Ito&#8217;s work that aims to stay true to the original must appear as dissimilar as possible from what is conventionally seen in anime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"New Promo for Junji Ito (Uzumaki)\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6NhzxpaXZn0?start=1&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s the case with &#8220;Uzumaki,&#8221; <strong>the anime adaptation of Junji Ito&#8217;s manga of the same name, which showcased two and a half minutes of footage during ComicCon, presented by Adult Swim<\/strong>. The anime features an extremely detailed, black-and-white art style. Behind its creation are Studio Drive and Studio Akatsuki, two relatively small and lesser-known studios, although Studio Drive gained recognition for its successful work on the second season of &#8220;To Your Eternity.&#8221; The director, Hiroshi Nagahama, is not new to the industry, having previously worked on the cult classic &#8220;Mushishi,&#8221; which shares certain tonal elements with &#8220;Uzumaki,&#8221; though not necessarily in its most terrifying or distressing aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those unfamiliar with it,<strong> &#8220;Uzumaki&#8221; is a manga by Junji Ito set in Kurouzu, a small town in Japan enveloped by a mysterious fog<\/strong>. According to Shuichi Saito, the town is cursed by a spiral pattern, slowly engulfing its inhabitants. Despite witnessing strange occurrences, no one believes Saito, dismissing him as crazy, except for his girlfriend, Kirie Goshima, who stands by his side throughout.
